On March 13, 2026, a working meeting was held at the Bolnisi Museum between Ilia Jalagania, State Representative of the Kvemo Kartli Region, Tea Oniani, Director General of the National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation, and David Lortkipanidze, Director General of the Georgian National Museum.
Representatives of various government agencies participated in the meeting, including Grigol Zeraghia, Executive Director of the Kvemo Kartli Regional Development Agency.
The meeting discussed issues related to the protection of cultural heritage and the development of the region's tourism potential.
Tea Oniani, Director General of the National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation, briefed those present on the agency's activities and the legal regulations governing construction and planning in areas adjacent to cultural heritage sites.
The importance of interagency cooperation in the maintenance and restoration of monuments was also touched upon during the discussion.
David Lortkipanidze, Director General of the Georgian National Museum, presented the "Kvemo Kartli Educational and Tourism Cluster Concept," where the region's tourism potential, existing challenges, and potential solutions were discussed.
Following the working meeting, the participants visited the German Quarter of Bolnisi and discussed its restoration prospects, which are seen as an important opportunity for tourism development in the city.
The meeting was also attended by Mikheil Diakonidze, Head of the Regional Relations Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure, his deputy, Shalva Meskhi, government representatives, deputy governors of states, and heads of municipalities in the region.
